Visage Facade
Visage Facade is a large scale interactive portrait installation that blends participants faces together, often with surreal and amusing results. The installation encourages people to see the differences and similarities in their physiognomy, showcasing the collective identity of the community in an eerie digital montage.
Visage Facade was exhibited as part of the 10th anniversary of the Gertrude Street Projection Festival in 2017.
The installation could be interacted with through a custom hashtag on Instagram, such that visitors could take a selfie and insert their portrait into the installation. That person’s portrait would then be merged with other people’s faces. The system would only accept imagery of faces, ignoring any other content submitted.
This installation was a collaboration between Pierre Proske and Jobe Williams.
